Watch Elfyn Evans Put the All-New Fiesta ST Through its Paces...
Added: 10 July 2018
Fancy watching Welsh World Rally Championship driver Elfyn Evans take the All-New Fiesta ST to a secret underground location? There’s sliding, slipping and jumping as the sound of the 200PS 1.5 litre EcoBoost engine is amplified through one of Europe’s largest salt mines - 400 metres below ground level!
It may not be a typical race destination, but the top secret location makes for a fantastic testing track, as Elfyn Evans comments, “The salt is actually like fine gravel to drive on, quite slippery to be honest, especially on road tyres,” said Evans. “You expect it to be claustrophobic but actually it’s quite the opposite, a great place to really enjoy the new Fiesta ST.”
This new video is the latest in Ford’s Europe's Greatest Driving Roads series. Ford have been very busy putting a range of Ford performance vehicles – including the Ford GT, the Ford Focus RS and the Ford Mustang Convertible in some of the most stunning environments across the continent – from the Arctic Circle in Norway, to the sunny climes of Mallorca. However, all of the previous locations have been above ground.
“The drama of the tunnels and the chance to show off Fiesta ST’s ability on a different type of surface were a big part of choosing this unique location,” said Leo Roeks, Ford Performance director. “
It wasn’t a typical race track, it was somewhere we could drive this great car to its full potential.”
If you’d like to get behind the wheel of the All-New Fiesta ST, why not book a test drive at your nearest Day’s Ford branch? We can’t promise you an underground testing location - but we can certainly assure you that you won’t be disappointed in the abilities if this brilliant new performance Ford.
